sneak peek

Lately, this is what my view has been lookin’ like. My belly is getting bigger and bigger….and I love it so much! With my son, I absolutely adored being pregnant. It’s pretty awesome to always get asked “So what do you want to eat?” and  being told “Here, take his seat” — but most of all, it’s the most amazing, incredible feeling to know that there’s a baby growing in there…and to be able to feel that miracle wiggle and squirm is just phenomenal :) And you know what makes this time around even more special? We’re having a GIRL!  When we found out, I cried. Yes, I cried with happiness. Now of course, another boy would have been nice as well – I wouldn’t have to buy any new clothes and Drew would have a best bud for life — but a girl, a girl means that I can have a sweet little angel to take shopping with me, to buy cute little dresses and have that mother-daughter bond that I have with my mom. So suffice it to say, finding out that we’re having a  girl was great news! I haven’t gone crazy buying baby girl things yet, but the one purchase I did make right away was this little doll. How cute is she? She’s custom made by Lil Sprinkles….and my favorite part about her is her little camera – who knows, perhaps she’ll take an interest in  mine when she gets older :) She also has our baby girl’s name embroidered on her tushy – but that will remain a secret until she actually arrives :) She’ll stay in our baby girl’s bassinet until she’s born….so for now, I just look at this sweet little doll, hold my belly, and dream of what our sweet angel will look like, smell like, sound like….be like

Of course, being a photographer is an absolutely amazing job to have! But I must say, it’s more than just the pictures – it’s the relationships that I develop with each family that makes what I do so special. This couldn’t be any more true for this lovely bunch. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph them four times! FOUR times! How cool is that? And each time I get to know them more and more….how mom is such an amazing, hard working, organized, well planned, kind and giving person; how dad is just phenomenal with his boys – knowing just what to do to make everything better, making them laugh and smile; and of course, the sweet kids – they are so easy going, extremely sweet and a breeze to photograph! And get this – they actually listen to their parents – wow! That doesn’t always happen when I photograph toddlers and preschoolers :)  I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity to meet their extended family! And yes, they are all equally amazing. So as you can see, I’m lucky indeed. I’m thankful and humbled with every session – being trusted to capture these family memories is not a task I take lightly. And most (if not all) photographers will probably agree that the greatest compliment they can ever receive isn’t a verbal one…it’s when families come back for more sessions!

…to look this gorgeous when I start my 3rd trimester of pregnancy! It seems as though I’m extremely lucky with maternity sessions because every photo shoot I’ve done recently has been with an absolutely beautiful mom-to-be! There’s really nothing more a photographer can ask for: Radiant mom, loving partner, beautiful home and breathtaking outdoor scenery. We had a lovely tropical oasis to work with – full of lush greenery, cool shade, rocks and water. Aaaand, a quaint, charming garden full of color and texture. Suffice it to say, I was smiling when I saw all of the beautiful areas to work with. I had a wonderful time….and I can’t wait to meet their baby in just a few months!

…amounts of love! Two grandparents, 4 children and 5 grandchildren equals lots of giggles, smiles, hugs & kisses. It was such a joy photographing this sweet family! I must admit, I do get nervous every time I photograph this large of a group, but honestly, they were all so funny and easy going that my anxiety completely disappeared upon seeing everyone that morning! Hopefully later on down the road, I can have pictures like these taken of my brood! I’m not sure about having 4 kids – 2 seems good for now, perhaps 3 :) But either way, I think it’d be awesome to have a 3 generation photo shoot! And as luck had it, the clouds were out on the morning of our photo session – and boy was I happy about that! It was such a pleasant shoot…loveed it!

Wow! This was one fast, fast photo session. Thank you to this sweet family for driving an hour down to the beach! We definitely ended up starting later than I had planned because of their drive (with only 30 minutes to spare before the sun set), but this just goes to show that sometimes, hours aren’t needed – especially when one of your subjects is lightening fast! True, the light was fading super fast, the sun was setting and my golden hour was saying goodbye…but the one thing that did not fade was the energy level of little miss below. She was fast to begin with, but with each passing minute she seemed to be gaining more and more speed :) It was quite fun chasing after her and playing in the sand. What a wonderfully pleasant evening we had….and would you look at this radiant mommy – pregnant with their 2nd baby! She’s beautiful indeed…as was the light and her baby girl this evening.
