Already famous

Posted on July 27th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Newborn Photography, Orange County Photo Shoots

At 10 days old, little Breyker is already famous! After his amazingly beautiful birth story, he definitely won over the hearts of many, many people! I’m certain that loads of people are waiting to see images from this sweetie’s newborn session. And as I predicted after his mommy’s maternity sessions – he is extremely handsome, cute, adorable, super snuggly and just plain gorgeous :) He’s got the creamiest, soft, rosy complexion (he had little to no peeling or redness on session day)….a perfect little nose, a full pout, and big, beautiful eyes — I’m not sure what color they will be in a few weeks, as eye color tends to change…but for now they seem to be a gorgeous shade of dark blue (but I could be wrong). I guess it doesn’t really matter because he is just so stinkin’ cute anyhow! And hello – does mom look like she just gave birth? No way! So lovely…a beautiful family as a whole! The session was just awesome…there was so much love in the air — and that definitely shows through in these images.

All I want to do

Posted on July 25th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Hermosa Beach Photo Shoots, Newborn Photography

…is sleep. Wow! Typically, my newborn sessions are within the first two weeks of birth…mostly because babies are really sleepy during the first few weeks which means lots of snuggly, sleepy, squishy baby photos. Then at around 3 weeks, they become more alert, which means they like to stay awake during sessions to see what’s going on. But this time, our little baby boy was just as sleepy as can be. He was such a great little model. We tried to wake him up for some photos to capture his big eyes – but he wasn’t having it! In fact, he got very annoyed at us for even trying…I think he tried to keep his eyes open for a little, but each time, those lids would quickly get heavy and he’d be ready for more snoozing. The photos towards the bottom were when we tried to keep him awake…he wasn’t very excited about this – but cute nonetheless. I can’t complain though, I always love sleepy babies – so here he is…just as snuggly and sleepy as can be.

Busy little bee

Posted on July 12th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Los Angeles Photo Shoots

…this adorable busy little bee was the quintessential toddler. Running around, jumping around, walking, laughing…and (in true toddler style) pretty much doing the opposite of what was asked :) This comes as no surprise though! And I love it…it’s absolutely hilarious and awesomely cute! No doubt, she is a fire cracker…and…just gorgeous. Beautiful curls, big brown eyes…and a sweet, sweet smile. She is going to be a heartbreaker!

The best kind of smile

Posted on June 17th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Los Angeles Photo Shoots

…is one that shows off those little baby teeth! How oh-so-adorable! It’s always a joy photographing this family. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them from the time the littlest one was only days old…I really enjoy seeing families over the course of the year. It always amazes me just how fast our little once grow and change!

No terrible twos here

Posted on June 15th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Los Angeles Photo Shoots

We’ve all heard of (and perhaps even experienced) the “Terrible Twos” in some form or another. You know, crying, screaming, kicking, doing the complete opposite of anything asked (I know most of my days are like this-I have a 2.5 year old). So parents are often scared, literally petrified, of having a photo shoot with their toddler. So I thought I’d share this session in full. This sweet girl was two years old…because I don’t try to “make” kids (or babies for that matter) do anything that they aren’t interested in, sessions almost always go pretty well. Although, I do like a little meltdown now and again – I think they are super cute — teary eyes — awww, I know it’s sad, but kids are so cute with those big sad eyes. Anyway, this one was tantrum free..and our sweet little girl was just a doll! Enjoy!

Generations

Posted on June 15th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Orange County Photo Shoots

To say that this weekend was busy for me would be an understatement. I try not to book myself for back-to-back sessions, but I kind of had to this week. It was energizing though, and I had massive amounts of fun!

The big whammy was a majorly awesome photo shoot – four generations of families…with great grandma leading the pack (what an amazing woman she is, truly). To be exact, 8 families (technically 10) in all…and over 30 people, including kiddies! I must admit, I was pretty nervous going into it, but the moment I met the first family, I knew it was going to be amazingly fun! I think part of it is because this beautiful family totally reminds me of my own :) They even fed me afterwards – that made my day — and anyone who knows me knows that I cannot refuse food. Ever. And, I must always finish what’s on my plate (or in my bowl). So, here are a few fave images from this very fun day! I’ll save the massive group photos for later :)

Oh, and I must thank my hubby for giving me up for two days. I hardly saw him at all this weekend! He did have fun hanging out with Drew (our 2.5 year old) though, which is always nice. But at least we got to watch the Laker game on Sunday night (although I wish I would’ve skipped it because it was quite painful to watch). Anyway, here are the photos! Looking at these brings to surface a deep appreciation of how lucky I am to do what I do! My job has got to be up there on the list of most awesome jobs :) So what does about 4.5 hours of shooting and 750+ actuations get you? Well, here’s a little taste:

The perfect formula

Posted on June 14th, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Hermosa Beach Photo Shoots

Two sweet girls, two beautiful sisters, two wonderful dads and a lovely cloudy day made for a perfect session! June gloom is clearly in full effect – and I really couldn’t be happier about that! It was a gorgeous day at the beach…with the sun peeking through for a few minutes at a time to illuminate the sky and warm up the crisp beachy air…it was perfect :)

Sisterly love

Posted on May 22nd, 2010 by Julie in Family Photography, Manhattan Beach Photo Shoots

I know, I know, she’s got the biggest brown eyes and the cutest little face. I can totally understand why daddy wants to cuddle up next to her all the time! If you think this image is cute, wait ’til you see her smile! Her face lights up completely and so does everyone around her :) And, she’s got a beautiful big sister who adores her…and is a classic beauty herself (she looks just like mommy).
