Two sweet girls, two beautiful sisters, two wonderful dads and a lovely cloudy day made for a perfect session! June gloom is clearly in full effect – and I really couldn’t be happier about that! It was a gorgeous day at the beach…with the sun peeking through for a few minutes at a time to illuminate the sky and warm up the crisp beachy air…it was perfect :)

A darling, darling little boy…big blue eyes and just as sweet as can be!

I know, I know, she’s got the biggest brown eyes and the cutest little face. I can totally understand why daddy wants to cuddle up next to her all the time! If you think this image is cute, wait ’til you see her smile! Her face lights up completely and so does everyone around her :) And, she’s got a beautiful big sister who adores her…and is a classic beauty herself (she looks just like mommy).

…that make me so happy! It’s sessions just like this one that make me giddy! I can really do these types of sessions every day! I just love the dynamic nature of family shoots with toddlers. Yes, it can be challenging (with tantrums and all), but it’s hilarious and absolutely FUN. In this case though, no major tantrums at all! She was a perfect little model :) As long as she had a little cuddle time with mommy and daddy…and a little thumb sucking, she was good to go – plus, aren’t thumb sucking shots the cutest?! There was really nothing more I could ask for. We were at a beautiful location, it was nice and cloudy (my giant softbox), parents were gorgeous…and my main subject was a sweet, charming, adorable blue-eyed toddler! No doubt, I had an amazing time photographing this lovely family of three — and what better way to celebrate baby girl’s 2nd birthday than with a photo shoot?! I had an extremely difficult time choosing a few to blog! I’ll definitely be sharing this session in full soon :)

Juuust stop it! Stop being so darn cute! One is plenty, but two babies with such adorable features. Geez! It’s true that photographing twins is twice the work, but it’s also twice the fun! Especially when you have a loving auntie to help out…These sweeties had the most amazing auntie – she was the best entertainer and smile-maker! They are definitely lucky babies :) And, although they’re BOTH just adorable as can be – their personalities couldn’t be any more different – which I loved! But I must say, they also BOTH had the most amazing eyes (with different special qualities). Max has big, bold, beautiful eyes that were a lovely mix of hazels and blues – such a great reflection of his outgoing personality. Mia has pretty, soulful brown eyes and long lashes — there was definitely something in her gaze that caught me…so sweet, gentle and delicate….see for yourself!

When I’m photographing a family as energetic, fun, beautiful and full of love as this, all I need is an hour – just an hour! Not only did we knock it out super fast, the kids were just so charming, cooperative, willing and excited about being photographed :) I had an amazing time hanging out with this great bunch – observing the loving connections they had with each other…what was especially sweet was how big sister looked after and adored her little brother – it was so, so sweet. Here are few faves of the day. The first photo is my favorite, hands down!

I had an absolutely amazing time with this sweet family! It just goes to show that, yes – babies are super fun to photograph – but so are children! Especially when they’re as gentle hearted and loving as these two were :)
P.S. May is fully booked, June is full (I may take one more). And I’m currently reserving July photo session dates.
Then, holiday season (busy season for me) starts in August {gasp}! Crazy, crazy how time flies!

…..I knew it, totally knew that she was going to be a beautiful one year old! When I photographed her as a newborn, she was the tiniest, sweetest little thing — and now, almost one year later, she’s still sweet – but she is also just gorgeous! Big brown eyes, soft curls, and a cute little smile :)
And look at her adorable little nose :)

She was such a wonderful model for our photo shoot. She definitely showed interest in my camera — and my camera looooved her!

And yes, her shirt says “Daddy’s Girl” — but she is absolutely a mommy’s girl, too! It really warms my heart when I watch mom’s cuddle and snuggle their babies – breathing in all of that sweet babyness — it’s a familiar feeling (my son is now two, but I still see him as my little baby) and his snuggles and kisses are enough to make me teary eyed.

….and of course, her shirt was accurate – she’s a daddy’s girl and always will be :)

It was so so so wonderful seeing this sweet girl again! Happy early birthday!

It’s clear as day to me why mommy and daddy would want to smooch and cuddle him all the time! Look at his adorable face — and in person, his bubbly laugh is so so contagious :) When I first did their maternity session – I knew that when their baby was born, they would loooove and adore him so much…you could just tell by the way they were so in love with each other – that they would be so in love with their baby boy. Which was absolutely true! At their newborn sessions here and here…I got a little glimpse into their world & their new journey as parents. So, I was waay excited to see them again for Sam’s 6 (almost 7) month session….and oh my – Sam was even more handsome that he was when I first met him….In one word, he is just super duper CHARMING :)
I love these two images below. On the left, he looks just like daddy – seriously – of all of the many babies I have had the opportunity to photograph, I’d have to say that Sam & Ben look the most alike! And the photo on the right I just love because you can see how Sam’s eyes are just like mommy’s!

And would you just look at this face! Scrunched up nose, squinty eyes and toothless gums — all because he was in the middle of a big, jolly laugh. He is so, so, so cute!

Sam’s getting ready to hit the beach with daddy – I think he’s about ready – Don’t you?

He also might be ready to help daddy in the garage.
That big red toolbox was totally better than any other toy in the house!

It was so wonderful seeing you all again! I had a great time catching up and getting to see how much Sam has grown! It’s an honor, privilege and blessing that I’m able to document this special time for your family :) See you again in August!

Baby it’s cold outside! I just love cold weather. The air is so crisp, so clean – especially after the rain. It’s also a perfect opportunity to accessorize with scarves, jackets, knits & lots of layering. Here are some ideas for family photo sessions with cooler weather in mind. I adore winter clothes!
And as any person who lives in Los Angeles will tell you – it can be cold one day and warm the next! In which case, lighter clothing (like cottons and soft knits) would be perfect. Spring clothing is also super colorful – which I just love! Color, color, color! This set-up below I particularly like because it’s a wonderful illustration of how a family can “go” – but not necessarily “match”….It’s nice to show some variety – everyone need not wear the same color and match perfectly…clothing like this makes things much more interesting :

…my socks have been knocked off. I do not know where they are. I lost them at the park last night while photographing this BEAUTIFUL family. But do not fret my amazing blog readers, I have many more pairs just like them and always look forward to having them knocked off!
Speechless.

The light that evening was magical. phenomenal. delightful – as was the family.

…and what a sweet personality our model had! She did an excellent job at making googly eyes for my camera!

So, I must say, mom picked the best outfits. ever. I receive quite a few emails about what to wear for sessions, and I always encourage everyone to “go together” – as opposed to being “matchy matchy”. Case and point below:

See how mom & dad’s shirts accent the cyan blue in baby girl’s dress even though her dress is mostly pink? It is the perfect combination. I always, always prefer deep, rich jewel tones and bright colors over neutrals! What a difference it makes for the photos!
