Already famous
At 10 days old, little Breyker is already famous! After his amazingly beautiful birth story, he definitely won over the hearts of many, many people! I’m certain that loads of people are waiting to see images from this sweetie’s newborn session. And as I predicted after his mommy’s maternity sessions – he is extremely handsome, cute, adorable, super snuggly and just plain gorgeous
He’s got the creamiest, soft, rosy complexion (he had little to no peeling or redness on session day)….a perfect little nose, a full pout, and big, beautiful eyes — I’m not sure what color they will be in a few weeks, as eye color tends to change…but for now they seem to be a gorgeous shade of dark blue (but I could be wrong). I guess it doesn’t really matter because he is just so stinkin’ cute anyhow! And hello – does mom look like she just gave birth? No way! So lovely…a beautiful family as a whole! The session was just awesome…there was so much love in the air — and that definitely shows through in these images.

When words aren’t enough
Every time I photograph a birth (especially a birth as intense & beautiful as their baby’s birth) I have a renewed sense of amazement of how phenomenal and miraculous childbirth really is. People often ask me why I photograph births…and how I can stand to be in the room when something (in some people’s eyes) not so pretty is going on. My response always includes an explanation of how I feel that childbirth is one of the most natural, beautiful things one can ever experience. I personally think it’s a beautiful thing, and that a mother’s beauty is unmatched when she is bringing a new life into the world – with strength, passion, love….The moments in time you are able to freeze frame and isolate are those you never want to forget – and I want my families to have these to look back on forever. You can explain what it’s like to become a parent for the first time, or explain what it was like the first time you laid eyes on your child…but sometimes, words aren’t enough. When my son was born, I found it to be very difficult to explain all that I felt when I first saw him – and I think it’s the same for many other parents.
Here’s a perfect example (press play below to view Breyker’s Birth Day)…

I just bet
…that their baby is going to be quite the looker! I’m pretty certain of this. Just look at momma-to-be…in her 3rd tri, and still smokin’ hot! We had an awesome little maternity session…but what I enjoyed most was getting to know her and daddy-to-be just a bit more, since I’ll be photographing the birth of their baby very soon! I’m so, so excited! So here are a few sneak peaks from our session – sorry it took so long!

Generations
To say that this weekend was busy for me would be an understatement. I try not to book myself for back-to-back sessions, but I kind of had to this week. It was energizing though, and I had massive amounts of fun!
The big whammy was a majorly awesome photo shoot – four generations of families…with great grandma leading the pack (what an amazing woman she is, truly). To be exact, 8 families (technically 10) in all…and over 30 people, including kiddies! I must admit, I was pretty nervous going into it, but the moment I met the first family, I knew it was going to be amazingly fun! I think part of it is because this beautiful family totally reminds me of my own
They even fed me afterwards – that made my day — and anyone who knows me knows that I cannot refuse food. Ever. And, I must always finish what’s on my plate (or in my bowl). So, here are a few fave images from this very fun day! I’ll save the massive group photos for later
Oh, and I must thank my hubby for giving me up for two days. I hardly saw him at all this weekend! He did have fun hanging out with Drew (our 2.5 year old) though, which is always nice. But at least we got to watch the Laker game on Sunday night (although I wish I would’ve skipped it because it was quite painful to watch). Anyway, here are the photos! Looking at these brings to surface a deep appreciation of how lucky I am to do what I do! My job has got to be up there on the list of most awesome jobs
So what does about 4.5 hours of shooting and 750+ actuations get you? Well, here’s a little taste:

The big ONE
Happy (early) birthday! I cannot believe it has been nearly one year since I first photographed this handsome boy as a newborn and of course at 7 mos! Now he’s a big boy – getting ready to turn ONE! I can’t say enough what a blessing it is that I’m able to do what I do. Being invited into the homes and hearts of amazing families to capture unforgettable memories is a true, true joy. Especially being a mother myself, I have a deep appreciation and understanding about how magical it is to have a child…the feelings of love and adoration…of unconditional love…and the amazement that comes with being a parent! It’s really impossible to describe the love you have for your child, until you become a parent yourself…It’s been an incredible journey documenting this sweet boy’s milestones over the past year – and what makes me even more giddy is that I get to photograph his sweet family even beyond his first birthday
So here’s to the birthday boy! Have an awesome time partying it up!

Reason to celebrate
…not only because he just turned the big ONE – but also because he is just so cute! And why not celebrate cute babies?! Well I suppose he’s actually a toddler now that he’s pretty much walking (a few steps at least) – but still cute nonetheless! He looked like such a little man for our photo session…and I think it’s just adorable how his jeans cover his shoes – teehee

Clear as day
It’s clear as day to me why mommy and daddy would want to smooch and cuddle him all the time! Look at his adorable face — and in person, his bubbly laugh is so so contagious
When I first did their maternity session – I knew that when their baby was born, they would loooove and adore him so much…you could just tell by the way they were so in love with each other – that they would be so in love with their baby boy. Which was absolutely true! At their newborn sessions here and here…I got a little glimpse into their world & their new journey as parents. So, I was waay excited to see them again for Sam’s 6 (almost 7) month session….and oh my – Sam was even more handsome that he was when I first met him….In one word, he is just super duper CHARMING

Sugar and spice
…and everything nice! That’s what little girls are made of. Especially this little girl! At three months old, she is just as cute as a button and tolerated tummy time like a little champ! She’s got the rosiest cheeks, pinkest pout….and big, beautiful, curious eyes.

Seize the moment
A family of troopers! Dad carried a heavy chair two football fields up a hill. Grandma pushed a stroller full of stuff up that same hill…and mom carried a bunch of bags up too! It was definitely a tough walk – but wow! What a perfect location for a photo session! The morning sun was just peeking over the hill….the air was cool and crisp….and the mountainy-air was absolutely delightful. This is definitely a family always ready to seize the moment – no hesitation at all to walk around in the dirt and take a journey up a rugged hill!

Nature baby
Finally, finally – it’s beginning to look like Fall in California! It’s about time – it’s almost December for crying out loud! And…little man seemed very content with the cool breeze, falling leaves…and green grass all around – I think he’s going to be a nature lover like his mommy
