Family sessions are definitely the most fun type of session. My style is very much photojournalistic with a mix of modern portraiture. I always try to get a handful of shots where everyone is looking at the camera, but my main focus and favorite shots are those capturing intimate, candid moments of your family just being…a family! Never will I ask you to say “cheese” or explicitly ask you to look at the camera — I have a few tricks up my sleeve to get everyone looking at me. If you want more posed or traditional photos where everyone has a perfect smile and sitting with great posture, BSP may not be the best match (I can recommend some other photogs to you). BUT, if a few strands of hair flying across your face, or a true open mouth smile and laugh is something that makes your heart skip a beat, then I think we’ll get along just fine :) Especially with toddlers and children, asking them to look directly at the camera is never really a good idea because you get forced and fake smiles; plus, toddlers are notorious for doing the exact opposite of what’s asked of them. So I always try to stay away from telling them what to do – I go with the flow and let your child take the lead. Feel free to take a look at photos from my Child Photography and Family Photography sessions, and if you’d like to learn more, please contact me. Don’t forget to check out my full portfolio.

Family sessions are pretty fast paced! I like to move around a lot and will ask you to do different things during our session. This keeps your little one(s) interested and on their toes! It always seems like I’m a bit of a spazz (which I actually am), but the ending result will be a gallery full of unique, different, candid images that capture true emotions…and your family having fun!
